"Terra In-cognita" Opening of the touring exhibition at the Rooftile and Brickworks Museum

The Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation (PIOP) in association with the International Association of Art Critics (AICA, Greek Section) opens on Saturday, June 8 (at 19:30), the touring modern art exhibition Terra In-cognita at the Rooftile and Brickworks Museum in Volos.

This exhibition is the first collaboration between the Foundation and AICA, specifically with its Greek Section, which this year marks seventy years from its foundation (1949).

The old Tsalapatas factory, where the Rooftile and Brickworks Museum of the PIOP Museum Network is housed, was itself a source of inspiration for the eleven artists who participate in the exhibition and are connected to the city of Volos. Taking their inspiration from the raw materials used at the factory, earth and clay, the artists engage in a forward-looking way with notions such as decentralisation, nativity, but also respect for the natural environment, which supported and stimulated in a variety of ways the city's industrial development in the 20th century.

The exhibition is curated by the Art Historian and Special Secretary of the AICA - Greek Section, Faye Tzanetoulakou. A catalogue has been co-published by the two collaborators (PIOP-AICA).

The artists who participate are Phoebe Yannisi, Katerina Diakomi, Thrasyvoulos Kalaitzidis, Zisis Kotionis, Pantelis Lazaridis, Sotiris Batzianas, Maria Papadimitriou, Spyros Papadopoulos, Nikos Podias, Maria Hatzinikolaou, Alexander Psyhoulis.

The exhibition opens on Friday, June 7 (19:30)The exhibition runs from June 8 to December 31, 2019.
Opening hours: Daily except Tuesdays, 10:00-18:00 (to October 15), 10:00-17:00 (from October 16).
