The Museum of the Olive and Greek Olive Oil participates in celebrating the European Heritage Days

On the occasion of this year's celebration of the European Heritage Days on the subject of "Pol(e)is" ("Cities"), the Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation (PIOP) presents, starting on Friday, September 28, the art installation "Manufacturing the Commons: Olive, Oil, Light", at the Museum of the Olive and Greek Olive Oil in Sparta.

The installation of Elena Stavropoulou aims at showcasing the financial and cultural significance of engagement with olive-oil across time, lending particular emphasis to the modern era. It is a pictorial narrative of the course of olive-oil in the Mediterranean region: from tangible soil to the intangible light of the oil lamp, from the solid, irregular roots to the streamlined packaged product. The installation addresses olive-oil as a material product and as a symbol rooted in the culture and the tradition of the countries of the Mediterranean.

The exhibition runs from September 28 to October 29, 2018.
Entry is free of charge.
