"Reconstruction Issue: post-war Greek stamp series on development" at the PIOP Historical Archive

The Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation (PIOP) and the Philatelic And Postal Museum are organising jointly an exhibition entitled "Reconstruction Issue: post-war Greek stamp series on development", at the Foundation's Historical Archive in Tavros. Stamps from the Philatelic And Postal Museum and archival items from the PIOP Historical Archive collections are presented together in the context of a touring exhibition on the subject of the country's post-war economic reconstruction, showcasing the main sectors of the economy and production at the time.

The core of the exhibition is the "Reconstruction Issue" stamp series, which was issued in September 1951. It was designed by I. Kefallinos, and is the Greek version of the series issued in several European countries under the title E.R.P. - European Recovery Program (the official appellation of the Marshall Plan). Also included are special series showcasing the main sectors of the Greek economy in conjunction with archival items about economic growth. In addition, the exhibition presents the basic elements of the art of pictorial design and the technique of stamp printing.

The exhibition runs from November 15, 2019 to February 14, 2020

Opening hours: Monday - Friday 09:00-17:00

Entry is free of charge
