The exhibition’s catalogue titled Terra in-Cognita, curated by Faye Tzanetoulakou, at the Rooftile and Brickworks Museum N. & S. Tsalapatas of the Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation (PIOP), in Volos, marks the beginning of PIOP’s cooperation with the International Association of Art Critics/AICA Hellas.

Earth, soil, clay, the primary material for the former Tsalapatas factory, elements that have shaped the cultural history of Volos, become visualised and guide the visitor to a journey of self-knowledge in-cognita.

In contemporary artistic creation there is a tendency for a “return to the roots” and an emphasis on artistic production by local communities.

Eleven renowned Greek artists, born or based in Thessaly, are invited here to express their relationship with their natural and cultural environment.
