The result of the study of the archival series deposited with Historical Archives of the Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation (PIOP), this volume presents two important archival collections, those of the Central Loan Committee (CLC) and of the Economic Development Financing Organization (EDFO). The CLC functioned between the years 1949-1954, while after its dissolution and until 1964, it was succeeded by the EDFO; the establishment of the two agencies is related to Greece’s post-war economic situation and to the agreements between the Hellenic State and the United States of America regarding the application of American economic aid in the form of long-term loans to granted Greek firms of the private sector. The book presents a brief review of the two organizations’ establishment, structure and functioning, as well as a wealth of documents composing its Annex that bear witness to their activities.
