The exhibition is extented until February, 26 2024
The Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation (PIOP), in cooperation with Anemon Productions, starting from Wednesday 18 October 2023, presents the photography exhibition Foodprint in the Environment Museum of Stymphalia.
On the theme of the Mediterranean Diet and its importance for people's lives today, the exhibition links Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Morocco, Cyprus and Croatia through the photos taken by five European photographers who bring to life an ancient way of life and nutrition. This diet has been recognized by UNESCO as an element of the Intangible Heritage of Humanity due to its unique qualities. Based on frugality, sharing and seasonality, it provides solutions to some of the most critical problems facing the planet today such as the loss of biodiversity, food waste and climate change.
The photographs by Johann Clausen, Elena Heatherwick, Myrto Papadopoulou, Chris de Bode and Maria Contreras Coll depict the various aspects of the Mediterranean Diet today. The exhibition in the Environment Museum of Stymphalia is part of the European tour that until now includes Italy, Cyprus, Turkey, Croatia, Albania and the National Museum of Contemporary Art (EMST) in Athens.
Foodprint is a production by Anemon co-organised with the Goethe-Institut Athens, the Museum of Cycladic Art, the Museums of Brescia, Italy, the Bank of Cyprus Cultural Foundation and the Museum of Cypriot Food and Nutrition, in collaboration with the Directorate of Modern Cultural and Intangible Heritage of the Ministry of Culture and the Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation. It takes place under the auspices of the Hellenic National Commission for UNESCO and was created with the support of the European Union’s Creative Europe programme.
