Event Quality and Sustainability Management Policy

The Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation (PIOP), as a non-profit public benefit institution, implements cultural, scientific and other actions within the framework of Piraeus Bank's Sustainability Strategy, which promotes the adoption of Environmental, Social Cohesion and Governance criteria that combine growth and economic performance with social and environmental sustainability.

The Foundation has defined and documented its policy, its objectives and its commitment to Quality by implementing a Quality Management System according to the international standard EN ISO 9001:2015. The Quality Policy is tailored to PIOP's organizational objectives, as well as to the requirements and expectations of the Management, employees and stakeholders.

PIOP’s vision is:

  • To promote intangible cultural heritage as an integral part of the country's cultural policies.
  • To strengthen social cohesion by reducing inequalities in access to quality cultural goods in the region.
  • To promote the concept of the unity of culture and the environment.
  • To create value in culture through digital infrastructure and open and reusable digital content.
  • To contribute to the economic prosperity of the country through the development potential of culture and the development of trust at local level. 

PIOP's statutory objectives are:

  • To inform the Greek people about the need to preserve and protect the traditional cultural character of our country and its natural environment, in parallel with its industrial development, as well as the active application of standard methods to achieve these objectives.
  • To contribute to the preservation, recording and promotion of the cultural heritage and identity of the place in Greece and abroad.
  • To promote natural and cultural environment issues in the context of sustainable development principles, by organising actions/programmes that contribute to the Foundation's work, in cooperation with the public and private sectors at central or local level.
  • Το create and operate Museums of local traditional techniques and products, other cultural centres, as well as film productions to promote the cultural heritage and identity of the place.
  • Tο preserve and record the traditional craft and industrial technology of our country, the history of the Group, as well as the Foundation's contribution to the research of traditional technology and industrial archaeology.
  •  To communicate to the wider public the results of PIOP's work through lectures, seminars, conferences, exhibitions, films, the publication of magazines and books, the organiσation and preservation of archives, as well as the use of all modern means of communication.

In order to achieve its statutory objectives, PIOP implements a Quality Management System (QMS), in accordance with the requirements of the ISO 9001:2015 Standard. QMS includes all those processes that affect quality and ensure the transparency and standardization of procedures and forms.

The scope of the Quality Management System applied at PIOP includes the following:

  1. Planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance of the Museum Network.
  2. Promotion and organisation of exhibitions, cultural events, book presentations, seminars, educational programmes and recreational activities.
  3. Implementation of research programmes for the recording, preservation, presentation and promotion of the industrial and industrial heritage in Greece.
  4. Collection, processing and dissemination to various groups of the public of historical archival material, with the aim of documenting and studying the Greek economic history of the 20th century and preserving memory through archival sources.
  5. Publication of original works, translations of works, design of educational material for children, books and other publications, production of printed and digital information material and digital applications.
  6. Selection, acquisition, organisation and management of printed and electronic collections of books and journals, databases, audiovisual material as well as library and archive activities.
  7. Implementation and management of European and co-financed projects.
  8. Development of initiatives, implementation and management of European and co-funded projects to link the tangible and intangible cultural heritage with the environment.
  9. Operation of souvenir shops, as well as sale of original items in specialised shops.

The Quality Management System provides procedures concerning the following:

  • Programme research and publication of scientific papers.
  • Programme research and publication of scientific papers.
  • Monitoring the proper and safe operation of the PIOP Museum Network and the PIOP Library.
  • Preservation and maintenance of the collections of the Historical Archive.
  • Ongoing vendor certification and evaluation.
  • Measurement of visitor/user satisfaction.
  • Staff training and education.
  • Setting qualitative and quantitative targets.
  • Continuous improvement of the quality of the services provided by the Foundation.

PIOP fully complies with the National and Community Legislation. PIOP's Quality Management System is aligned with the requirements of the EN ISO 9001:2015 standard. 

THE PIOP EVENT SUSTAINABILITY POLICY

The Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation (PIOP), as a non-profit public benefit institution, implements cultural, scientific and other actions within the framework of Piraeus Bank's Sustainability Strategy, which promotes the adoption of Environmental, Social Cohesion and Governance criteria that combine growth and economic performance with social and environmental sustainability.

Acknowledging that the activities related to the organisation of exhibitions and cultural events may have positive and/or negative social, economic and environmental impacts, PIOP has set the following objectives:

- To minimise negative impacts.

- To ensure the health and integrity of all involved.

- To continuously improve the environmental performance of the Foundation.

- To comply with the principles of sustainable development.

In order to achieve these objectives, the principles of event sustainability management that are priorities for PIOP are the following:

  • OVERVIEW: Full control and detailed monitoring of the planning and implementation of each event at every stage.
  • PARTICIPATION: Ensuring the participation of all stakeholders so that their requirements and interests are taken into account in the planning and implementation of events.
  • RESPONSIBILITY: Strict adherence to ethical standards.
  • TRANSPARENCY: Full transparency of procedures, decisions and related resources.
  • TRAINING: Training of employees, suppliers, partners and participants to achieve social, economic and environmental benefits.
  • SUSTAINABILITY: Minimising environmental impact.
  • VIABILITY: Create positive social and economic impacts as a result of each event.

In order to ensure that these principles are respected, a Sustainability Event Management System (SEMS) is in place, which is harmonised with the requirements of the ISO 20121:2012 standard, through which the Foundation commits to the following:

  • The continuous improvement of the SEMS.
  • Ensuring the necessary resources to achieve the objectives.
  • Proper and continuous training of staff.
  • Strict compliance with the relevant legislative and regulatory framework.
