The book is about the evolution of museums from «strong-rooms» for valuable objects to a modern and socially aware organization. Through his teaching and museology experience, the author focuses, on the one hand, on the practical way of dealing with the variety of museum themes, the emphasis being on the interactive relation between museum and visitor, and, on the other hand, on the manner in which the museum experience can become interesting and pleasing for the as many different categories of public as possible (children, the elderly, ethnic minorities, disabled persons, etc.).
The study’s framework consists of a detailed theoretical foundation, practical instructions on how museums, as the expression of cultural differences, can be useful for society and, above all, accessible for all (intellectually, practically, socially, culturally, financially), as well as a multitude of examples and interpretative means.
