Μουσείο Μετάξης [Silk Museum]

The exhibition of the Silk Museum in Soufli (Thrace) is housed in one of the most important buildings of the town, the Kourtidis Mansion. The publication Silk Museum. A Guide, based on the findings of the research projects carried out on silkworm breeding, production, and trade of silk, is a useful tool for exploring the museum's premises according to the museological sections of the exhibition. The introductory texts on the creation of the museum are followed by presentations on the historical route of silk, the history of Soufli in relation to silkworm rearing, the various stages of sericulture and the silk industry, the processing and uses of silk, dyeing and weaving techniques, and the Givre silk factory.
