Keeping the history of production alive

Museum Network of the Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation

DESCRIPTION
The Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation, a central pillar of Piraeus Bank’s Corporate and Social Responsibility, is systematically active in safeguarding and promoting the history of production in Greece, in cultural decentralization and highlighting the relationship between human beings, culture and the environment.

The Thematic Museums Network in the Greek provinces is the outcome of this chosen strategy, raising the standards of cultural life in the country and contributing to the development of local economies. It is an exemplary project with global recognition, the result of cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, local and regional self-government
authorities and local societies.

This edition aims to present these Museums, which are now points of reference in the areas where they are located. Nine Museums, all over the country, highlight aspects of local history, preserve centuries-old traditions and record methods and techniques developed in various places for the utilization of natural resources like olive oil, marble, gum mastic and water.  Every Museum is presented separately, with an emphasis on the special characteristics of each area, introducing the processes and mechanisms related to the production and development in every region.
