The Piraeus Bank Group Cultural Foundation (PIOP) and the Museum of Greek Folk Musical Instruments "Foivos Anogeianakis" − Centre for Ethnomusicology present the temporary exhibition titled "A melodious journey through the music of 1821" in the Environment Museum of Stymphalia, on the occasion of the 25 March national feast day.

The exhibition, highlighting elements of the tangible and intangible cultural heritage of the country, which is a common goal of the two institutions, was created by the Museum of Greek Folk Musical Instruments "Foivos Anogeianakis" − Centre for Ethnomusicology, where it was first presented in 2021, in the context of the celebrations marking the bicentennial of the Greek Revolution. It transports the visitor to the era of the Revolution and its preparation, an era full of sounds and music: marches written and circulated in Europe and the Balkans, and folk songs that recounted personal and collective conflicts. Music written by famous and anonymous creators, based on old and familiar songs, to this day functioning as poetic narratives of small and great History and as vehicles for the co-creation of modern Greek identity. These creations can be heard in new recordings by fine musicians, inviting visitors to an experience of observation and auditory enjoyment.

The temporary exhibition is divided into seven units, which correspond to an equal number of prominent museum constructions referring to musical instruments. Visitors are invited to scan with their mobile phone the QR code found on the constructions in order to take part in the "game" of listening, to reflect and experience emotions such as joy, sadness, emotion and excitement.

Duration of the exhibition: 22 March to 30 June 2024
